An additional 20 million people all around Europe heard the concerts, recorded by Bartók Radio, on the air.
The event filled a gap in the region and complimented Hungary?s rich offering of festivals, said festival director György Bolyki. The few hang-ups at this year?s event will be overcome next year, he added.
The Hungarian artists Miklós Perényi, Zoltán Kocsis and Péter Frankl have all accepted invitations to perform at next year?s festival, and talks are underway with Yo-Yo Ma and Emanuel Pahud, said artistic director Katalin Kokas.
Kokas and her husband Barnabás Kelemen, Hungary?s famous violin-playing duo, are drawing on their contacts with big names on the international music scene to fill out the festival programme.
