Andrea Bártfai, who is handling publicity for the film, said Berlinale festival director Dieter Kosslick said the world premiere of Just the Wind had to take place in the framework of the festival in order for it to compete.
?We?re very sorry that the film cannot participate at the 43rd Hungarian Film Week, thus we ask the organisers and the public for patience and understanding,? Bártfai said.
Just the Wind, a Hungarian-German-French co-production, is based on a series of attacks against Roma families in Hungary in 2008 and 2009. It features the amateur actors Katalin Toldi, Gyöngyi Lendvai, Lajos Sárkány and György Toldi in the main roles. Professional actors Attila Egyed, Zsolt Végh, Emese Vasvári, Franciska Törőcsik and Gergő Kaszás are in supporting roles.
The Berlinale organisers also announced they were moving Magyarország 2011, a pastiche of episodes directed by the Hungarians András Jeles, Ágnes Kocsis, Ferenc Török, Simon Szabó, Márta Mészáros, Péter Forbács, László Siroki, György Pálfi, Benedek Fliegauf, András Salamon and Miklós Jancsó, organised by Béla Tarr, out of the competition ?because of Hungarian political events?.
The screening of Magyarország 2011 will be followed by a debate on the ?current situation of Hungary? in which the director Tarr will participate.
Magyarország 2011 is also on the programme of the 43rd Hungarian Film Week.
The 62nd Berlinale will take place on February 9-19.
