Russian business daily Vedomosti said a performance by the BFO at an international festival of orchestras in Moscow was the best concert of the year.
UK online review portal Arts Desk put a performance by the BFO at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival among the top ten concerts of the decade.
"Ivan Fischer is a rare thing among conductors: an academic and romantic, a man of ideas and raw passion....His visits to Britain with the Budapest Festival Orchestra - the greatest Hungary has had since the time of the Esterhazy's - have all been unmissable but one towers above the others: his folkified Rite of Spring at Edinburgh in 2006, both a revelatory and roof-raising experience," Arts Desk said.
