The Free Style Chamber Orchestra, started by jazz pianist and composer János Nagy and flautist Máté Pálhegyi, pairs a complete jazz combo with a string orchestra, backed by a woodwind section. This exciting variation has allowed the band to create a finely shaded tonal quality far different from the brassiness of the big-band sound typical of some jazz. The instrumental make-up of the band also makes otherwise cool and abstract jazz and contemporary pieces more accessible to the public.
Improvisation, which plays an important role for the Free Style Chamber Orchestra, lends new meaning to the term "chamber music concert", say the critics of jazz and classical monthly ?Fidelio?.
The International Buda State is located at Tárogató út 2-4 in Budapest?s District II.
