French Institute Shows Films Based on Books

This MovieTuesday series will focus on works of literature by authors such as Guillaume Mussot, Marguerite Duras, Marcel Proust, Honoré de Balzac and Agatha Christie that have been adapted for the screen.

The series will start at 7pm on May with a screening of Ricky, by director Francois Ozon, based on Rose Tremain's love story Moth.
 
Director Christophe Honoré's film La belle personne, another love story, will be shown on May 12.

Amos Gita?'s film Plus tard tu comprendras is based on an autobiographical novel by Jérome Clément about the protagonist's decision to explore his Jewish roots. The director as well as the screenwriter Marie-José Sanselme will attend the showing on May 19.
 
Honoré de Balzac's work Princess Langeais was the basis for the film Ne touchez pas la hache, which features Guillaume Depardieu, Jeanne Balibar, Bulle Ogier and Michel Piccoli.

The last two screenings on the programme will take place in the outdoor cinema of the Holdudvar on Margaret Island. They include Le crime est notre affaire, based on Agatha Christie's story Partners in Crime on June 23, and Et apr?s, directed by Gilles Burdos and based on Guillaume Mussot's novel, on June 30.
 
All of the films will be shown in French with English subtitles.
