The festival?s jury praised the film?s honest, simple and pure action. It offers insight into the truly dramatic nature of a relationship between a damaged mother and her daughter in a class-based society ridden with social problems, they said.

The Best Director of Photography award went to the Slovenian Simon Tansek for his work in ?From Grave to Grave? (Od groba do groba). Rather than trying to leave a personal stylistic imprint on the film, the cinematographer has wisely and generously subordinated the images to serve the rich and colourful world of the film, the jury said. The cinematography is flexible yet meticulous, warmly touching yet powerfully dramatic.

An actor in ?From Grave to Grave?, Gregor Bakovic, also took the Best Actor award. Bakovic gave a successful and energetic portrait of his troubled character, revealing the complex layers of his personality, ranging from despair to life-affirming joy.

The Best Actress award went to the Romanian Ioana Barbu for her powerful, confident, and touching performance in ?Love Sick?.

The Student Jury award was presented to Jan Hryniak?s ?The Third?, and the audience award went to ?From Grave to Grave?, directed by Jan Cvitkovic. The International Film Critics? Award went to ?Oprosti za kung fu?, directed by Croatian Ognjen Svilicic, while the Duna TV special award went to ?Stolen Eyes?, directed by Radoslav Spassov. The special Sláger Rádió award went to ?From the Underground With Love?.

The 2nd Pécs Film Festival, held on October 2?7, featured screenings of 40 films from 14 countries. The festival attracted 20,000 visitors this year, triple last year?s number.
