Fringe Festival to be Bigger Next Year

English

The Fringe Festival will be given greater emphasis during next year's 30th Budapest Spring Festival, especially as a new venue, the Thália Theatre, which Zimányi will take over as director, will be available to artists.

The government has also dubbed 2010 "the year of festivals". This year's Budapest Spring Festival ended Sunday night with a performance of Don Giovanni by the Vienna State Opera at the Palace of Arts.

The 17-day festival, which had a budget of HUF 1.4 billion, included about 250 events at more than 40 venues. More than three-fourths of the tickets were sold at least a month before the start.
