Jazz guitarist and composer Attila László, who will play in his quintet on Saturday, is among Hungary's best known representatives of modern fusion. He formed the quintet in 1992, but was well known before that as a founding member, together with Tony Lakatos, of Things, established in 1985. Most of the quintet's repertoire is written by László, though the ensemble's latest album features several compositions by the talented pianist Kálmán Oláh.
The Molnár Dixieland Band from Szeged - which enjoys the second-biggest Dixieland following in Hungary after the Budapest-based Benkó Dixieland Band -- will play on Sunday. The band, formed by university students in 1964, has won many awards and played with renowned soloists Fatty George, Eddy Davis, Tony Scott, Joe Muranyi, John Mortimer, Ian Wheeler, Marcel Zanini and Theis Jensen. The band was presented the Golden Medal of the City of Szeged at their 40th anniversary concert in 2004.
