The festival was originally slated for May, as a part of the 2010 European Capital of Culture programme of nearby Pécs. But the event was postponed because of administrative tie-ups at state event organiser Hungarofest following general elections, said DBU director Ildikó Frankl. Now DBU hopes to become the recipient for HUF 1.7 million budgeted in the Pécs2010 programme to support the festival, she added.

If the funding is not awarded to DBU, the theatre will eliminate one of this season?s productions to pay for the festival, Frankl said.

The festival is to include a production of Ottó Tolnai?s Bácska Balkan by the Teatro Capile from Vienna, György Spiró?s Prah by the Teatrul Radu Stanca of Sibiu, Gábor Görgey?s Jumping the Gun, in German, by the DBU, and György Spiró?s Chicken Head, in Romania, by the Teatrul Tony Bulandra.
