The Goethe Institute, the German Embassy and the German Tourism Centre are joining together to create a virtual stadium for football fans, showing World Cup matches on a giant screen at the Jövő Házá (formerly the Millennium Park), a short walk from Moszkva Square. The pre-game party will start at 16:00 on Friday. The first match ? Germany vs. Costa Rica ? starts at 18:00.
Information about the Federal Republic of Germany will be available at the event from the German Embassy, the German Tourism Centre will show visitors the attractions of a long weekend in Germany and the Goethe Institute will host a football terms course and country quiz in Hungarian and German. Eager students can follow the football terminology course online at www.goethe.de/budapest during the match.
The World Cup matches will also be shown at the Eckermann Café in the Goethe Institute?s new building at Ráday utca 58 in Budapest?s District IX, in German and Hungarian.
The Goethe Institute is the leading German language learning institution in Hungary. It offers beginners? to advanced courses to more than 1,000 language learners every year, and more than 10,000 learners take the institute?s language test. The pass rate for the test is 80 percent.
The Goethe Institute also offers language instruction courses to an annual 700 teachers in Hungary.
This summer, the institute will offer three-week super-intensive courses at its headquarters in Ráday utca. The twelve-week courses will start again in September.
The institute is always taking applications for German language courses in Germany.

Summer intensive language courses: June 19?July 7; July 17?August 4. Applications for the two courses will be accepted on June 13?15 and July 13?14, respectively.
On June 11, at 11:00, Zsuzsa Selyem and Krisztina Tóth will read on the occasion of Budapest?s 77th Book Week.
On June 13, at 18:00, in the Goethe Institute?s events room, German language teaching expert Rolf Kruczinna will participate in a programme entitled ?Why Do I Have To Go To School??
