The germ of Goethe?s theory was born after he looked through a prism in 1790. Two years later he published his first ideas on the matter, but he did not formulate the entire scope of his vision until 1810.
Goethe viewed his work with great pride, even placing it above his poetry and other writing.
In Budapest, the celebration of ?Theory of Colours? will start on October 5 with a talk on the effect of Goethe?s scientific writing at the Goethe Institute. A one-day conference on the subject will follow on the next day.
