Goethe Institute Gears Up For Anniversary

English

In the first quarter of the year, the institute - a non-profit organisation which promotes German language and culture outside of German-speaking countries - will continue its Changing World of Work programme, started this year. A film festival featuring the latest new works by German directors will follow in March. For the first time, the institute will also take the films on the road, showing them in the Hungarian cities of Szeged, Debrecen, Győr and Zalaegerszeg. The German artist Mischa Kuball will also come to Ráday Street - where the Goethe Institute moved two years ago - in the spring, transforming the lights along the streets for several weeks.

In the second quarter of the year, the Goethe Institute will focus on the anniversary of the 1968 student demonstrations.

In the third quarter, visitors to the institute can see performances as part of the Theatre Without A Stage series as well as the book exhibition With Other Eyes, which will also travel to other Hungarian cities.

Another novelty for the institute will be its Europe With Rap project which will send German rappers to Hungarian schools. The performances could result in invitations to Hungarian rappers to perform in Germany.
