The film?s lead, Helen Mirren, has also been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture ? Drama category.
?Babel?, by the Mexican-born director Alejandro González I?árritu, has received the most Gold Globe nominations. In addition to competing in the Best Motion Picture ? Drama category, its leads, Brad Pitt, Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi have been nominated for Best Performance awards.
?Babel? premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where I?árritu was awarded the prize for Best Director.
