The Titanic jury will be headed by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur who won last year's Titanic. The jury members will include director Ildikó Enyedi and cinematographer Gergely Pohárnok.
Eight films will compete at the Titanic: 9mm by the Belgian director Taylan Barman; The Happiest Girl in the World, a Dutch-Romanian coproduction directed by Radu Jude; Welcome Home by the French director Jean-Xavier de Lestrade; Hunger by the British director Steve McQueen; North by the Norwegian director Rune Denstad Langlo; Child by Children by the Japanese director Koji Hagiuda; I Can't Live Without You by the Taiwanese director Leon Dai; and Three Women by the Iraqi director Manijeh Hekmat.
This year's festival will also feature for the first time a Northern Lights section highlighting Finnish, Danish and Icelandic films.
There are altogether 56 films on the programme, playing in sections such as Foam of the Days, Elements of Crime, French Shoals, World Cinema, Music for All and Documentaries.
The Uránia Cinema will be the festival's base, but screenings will also take place at the KINO, Toldi and Örökmozgó cinemas. The festival runs until April 5.
