Applications to audition must be submitted by October 25. The auditions are being organised by Jeunesses Musicales Hungary (JMH).
Abbado founded the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester in Vienna in 1986. One of his main aims was to unite the best talent of Western and Eastern Europe in a single orchestra. Since 1992, the orchestra has been open to all European musicians under the age of 26.
The orchestra tours twice each year, in the spring and in the summer. Famous guest artists often play with the orchestra. The orchestra?s 2007 spring tour includes performances in Bolzano, Paris, Interlaken, Salzburg, Graz, Vienna, Madrid and Lisbon.
