The festival, slated for August 23-31, will take place at the Eszterházy's palace outside of Fertőd, near Hungary's border with Austria. It has been organised by the Hungarian Haydn Society.
On August 25, Bart von Oort, who won the audience prize at the Mozart Fortepiano Competition in 1986, will return to Eszterháza.
On the 28th, another fortepiano master, Aleksei Ljubimov, who studied under the legendary teacher Heinrich Neuhaus, will play Haydn trios with Simon Standage and Jennifer Ward Clarke from the UK. The British violinist and cellist will play again in the palace's grand hall on the following evening, this time joined by Catherine Martin on violin and Trevor Jones on base as the Salomon Quartet. In addition to pieces by Hadyn, the quartet will perform compositions by Tomasini.
On August 26, the Hungarian Zoltán Megyesi, together with the Trio Antiqua, will play Hadyn's adaptations of Scottish folk songs from the period.
The festival will close on August 31 with a performance by the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, one of the world's most famous early music ensembles.
