English

The local council of Bonyhád recently approved the foundation?s plan to erect a memorial in the public area. The statue designed by one of the founders of the organisation, Hermann Pasitka, will show a Star of David. One of the star?s triangles will be made of concrete and is intended to symbolise the cruelty of the Nazi regime. The other will be constructed of railway track and symbolises the journey of the Jews taken to concentration camps.

A list of some 1,200 Jews deported from Bonyhád will be inscribed on a glass plate at the monument.

The memorial could be erected as early as autumn.
