During the event, 18 new feature titles will compete for the Golden Reel Award, while other titles will be running in the short film, documentary, scientific and television categories. The competition films have been selected from 335 Hungarian productions (26 features, 120 shorts, 152 documentaries, 28 scientific and 9 television productions) in the last 12 months.
The anniversary festival of Hungarian cinema will be marked by young filmmakers with seven of the selected competitors being first time directors.
At the festival running until February 3, Oscar-winning director Istvan Szabo will receive life time achievement award. The Master of Hungarian Moving Picture award will be given to veteran director Judit Elek.
