The talks by Major, who teaches Arabic studies and archaeology at the Pázmány Catholic University near Budapest, drew much interest from his professional peers and students.
Major addressed the Archaeology Institute, operated by the University of California, Los Angeles and the Getty Institute, at the end of February. He also gave a presentation to Hungarian speakers at the Hungarian House in Los Angeles.
Major finished his trip with a talk at the University of California, Berkeley.
The Syrian-Hungarian Archaeology Mission, the body in charge of excavations at the Margat fortress, has made several big finds in the past three years, among them an enormous Crusader fresco.
