The band will play its 48-hour marathon in the Gödör Klub underneath Budapest's Erzsébet Square, and has invited a range of artists to participate in the event. The current record for longest concert played was set by a Turkish band in August 2005: the band played for 44 hours and 20 minutes. Sziámi is calling its attempt to beat the record ?Insomnia?.
To ensure a wide-eyed audience, as well as band, during the two-day concert, Sziámi has asked animated filmmaker Balázs Pál, painter Iván Szkok, visual artist István ef Zámbó, dancer Kata Juhász and fashion designer Tamás Király, among others, to help shape the event.
Guinness World Records sets some strict criteria for the record to be broken: at least four people must continuously perform during the concert, and breaks between songs may last no longer than 30 seconds. The songs may not be repeated within a four-hour period, and the audience must consist of at least ten people at all times. Because the event qualifies as a marathon in terms of stamina, Guinness World Records also requires continuous medical supervision. The concert?s organisers have invited volunteer doctors and nurses to assist at the event.
Culture Minister András Bozóki will be one of the official witnesses of the attempt to set the new record.
Sziámi will play material from their new album ?Grab It Now? at the concert. The album is their first release following a five-year hiatus.
