Hungarian-born Musician Jackie Orszáczky Dies

Orszaczky's bank Syrius, toured Eastern and Western Europe, then Australia, in 1970-71. The band became a battle flag for progressive intellectuals living in communist Hungary at the time.

 
Orszaczky left Hungary in 1975 and moved to Sydney. However, starting in the 90s, he made regular visits to Hungary with his wife Tina Harrod, who is also an accomplished musician. He last played in the country on the jazz stage of the Sziget Festival on August 14.
 
A concert to celebrate Orszaczky's 60th birthday was to have taken place at Budapest's Palace of Arts on April 4.
