English

The festival jury said the play used an ?inventive and brave? method to ?create a transition between amateurism (in its original sense) and professionalism.?

The main prize at the 44th BITEF went to a staging of Chekhov?s play Uncle Vanya by the German Theatre of Berlin. The play, directed by Jürgen Gosch, who died last year, was named the best performance of 2008 in Germany.
