Delta

The Hungarian Film director János Szász recently visited Tel Aviv, and his peers Kornél Mundruczó, Róbert Alföldi, Benedek Fliegauf and Márta Mészáros are soon to follow. Szász will be a member of the jury at an international student film festival that will include works by Fliegauf and Péter Forgács, another Hungarian director.

A film festival in Haifa in October will show Mundruczó's new film Delta and Alföldi's Calmness. Mészáros's films will be shown at a women's film festival in the autumn.

Calmness

A novel by the recently deceased Hungarian author Magda Szabó received kudos at the Tel Aviv book festival, and a selection of György Spiró's short stories is currently being translated into Hebrew, said Lányi. A new work by Péter Nádas is slated for publication next year.

A video art exhibition organised by the European Union to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the founding of Tel Aviv next year will feature a Hungarian artist, Lányi said.

Hungary also has a chance to become the guest of honour at next year's book festival in Jerusalem.
