"This is a very prestigious award," Mundruczo told MTI. "It gives me encouragement to continue working," he added.
In the absence of the director, who had already left France, Festival Director Thierry Fremaux presented the award to the film's German co-producer Susanne Marian on the Plage des Palmes.

"Delta" is a family drama starring a brother and a sister, and partly filmed in the beautiful surroundings of the Danube delta in Romania. After the sudden death of leading actor Lajos Bertok, the film was completed with folk violin virtuoso Felix Lajko in the lead role. His sister was played by the actress Orsi Toth.
"Delta" won this year's Hungarian Film Week's Golden Reel award.
