Hungarian French Horn Player Wins Prize in Austria

Ember, who plays with the Hamburg Opera House and the Hannover Philharmonic Orchestra, was earlier awarded prizes at contests in Brno, London and Munich. He studied under Ferenc Tarjáni at the Liszt Music Academy in Budapest and later under Marie-Luise Neunecker at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin.
 
The INTERMUSICA winner was Swiss trombonist Valentin Mauron. The runner-up was Austrian flautist Raimund Weichenberger.
 
Sixty-six musicians from Europe, the US, Russia and South Korea competed in Birkfeld.
 
The official hosts of the INTERMUSICA are the market town of Birkfeld and the Association of Wind Orchestras in Styria. The company Hutter acustix and Count Alexander Tacoli are co-hosts.
