Makláry said the gallery had recently participated at two other expositions in France that were more dynamic, but they were much smaller than Art Cologne, which drew some 55,000 visitors. Erdész & Makláry's stand was the only one from Central and Eastern Europe at the fair.
Photographs by André Kertész, Márton Munkácsy and László Moholy-Nagy were the most popular of the gallery's offering, but much interest was also shown for the works of Judit Reigl and Simon Hantai, Makláry said.
The stand was visited by Kaspar König, the director of Cologne's Ludwig Museum, as well as by the new director of Art Cologne, Daniel Hug, who is the grandson of the Hungarian-born artist László Moholy-Nagy. Makláry said Hug revealed he would visit Hungary soon with his mother to see the Moholy-Nagy Exhibition at the National Gallery.
Erdész & Makláry will have a stand at the Moscow World Fine Art Fair between May 25 and June 2.
