Hungarian is Finalist in Songwriting Contest

English

Sárik's song The Stroppy is a finalist in the jazz category. A recording of the song, with Sárik on piano, Radovan Tariska on saxophone, Tomas Baros on bass and the twelve-year-old Dávid Hodek on drums, can be heard on Sarik's website at www.petersarik.com

Asked how he decided on the name for the song, Sárik said he first writes a theme, then gives the song a title appropriate to the theme.

It is the fourth time a song by Sárik has made it to the finals of the contest. In the 2008 contest, he was a finalist with I'll Catch You, which made it to third place based on votes by the public.

The winners of the 2009 competition will be announced in April.

Sárik will next play in Budapest on March 20, when he will play a two-piano show with his Japanese peer Kuriya Makoto at the Take 5 club. He will play at the Budapest Jazz Club on March 25.
