The opera will perform Verdi?s Don Carlos, Bartók?s Bluebeard?s Castle and Kodály?s Psalmus Hungaricus in July of 2011 based on an agreement signed by the festival's chief and director of the Hungarian State Opera Lajos Vass.
"The performances will give the opera a chance to leave its mark in the Scandinavian region,? said Vass.
The festival was established in 1912, when the Finnish soprano Aino Ackté, together with other artists, decided to organise an event at Olavinlinna castle to strengthen the country's national identity. It was cut short by the start of WWI, but revived in 1967.
