Vienna State Opera director Ioan Holender said at the award ceremony that Harangozó was not just a great ballet director but a true European personality. Ballet has bloomed in Vienna in the past five years, he added.
Georg Springer, the cultural manager for Austria?s theatres, said the merger of the Staatsoper and Volksoper ballet groups could not have been completed as smoothly as under Harangozó?s watch.
