The documentaries are being screened from Tuesday through Saturday in the seven categories of today's issues, portray, history, arts, education, experimental and scientific films, said Beke, director of the Hungarian Cultural Centre in Bucharest and the festival organiser.

Half of the competing titles have been made by Hungarian filmmakers, 30 percent by ethnic Hungarian filmmakers in Romania and the rest by local artists, Beke said.

The jury is headed by revered Hungarian director Sandor Sara.

On the sidelines of the festival, four recent Hungarian award winning features and two city theatre productions will be shown to the audience, he said.
