Hungarian Season Starts With Carnegie Hall Series

The concert series, to take place between January 24 and February 14, marks the official start of the "Extremely Hungary" 2009 Hungarian Cultural Season in New York and Washington.

 
The Budapest Festival Orchestra will play on January 24, Lakatos will be on stage on January 27 and Eötvös on January 29. Kurtág will play on January 31 and -- with his wife, the pianist Márta Kurtág -- on February 1, and Palya will present a solo concert on January 30. The Celebrating Hungary series will conclude with a performance of Haydn's The Creation by the Orchestra St Luke and the Carnegie Hall festival choir under the baton of Helmuth Rilling on February 14.
