Borsos, who is from Targu Mures, shared the prize with Alvaro Lozano Gutierrez, a baritone from Spain.
The top prize came with a cash purse of EUR 15,000.
The contest, named after the soprano Hariclea Darclée, who was born 150 years ago, is the brainchild of Romanian soprano Mariana Nicolesco, who aims to discover new talent.
Almost 200 singers from 27 countries participated at this year?s festival, whose chief patron was President Traian Basescu.
