Locals have wanted to set up a Hungarian language theatre for at least 20 years, but talks on the proposal started just one year ago.
There are plans to stage two premieres a year at the Hungarian Chamber Theatre in Senta, theatre manager Iván Vukosavljev told the local newspaper Magyar Szó. He expressed hope that actors who are from Senta, but now work elsewhere in the region or in Hungary, will join some performances as guests.
The first premiere is expected to take place in late April or early May, after the education centre housing the theatre is renovated.
