The play is part of a series in which the Jókai Theatre is showing pieces from neighbouring countries each month. In December, an Austrian play is in the spotlight.
In addition to putting on the Schwab play, a readers theatre production of Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde will be put on, an exhibition of work by the Austrian painter and set designer Peter Karlhuber will take place, and the Békés County Symphony Orchestra will perform a Mozart concert during the month.
The Presidents has never been performed in Europe - since it premiered in Vienna in 1990 - without causing a scandal, said theatre director Péter Fekete.
The Jókai Theatre is recommending the piece, directed by Szalma Dorotty, a Hungarian who lives in Austria, only for adult audiences. The production includes the actors Tünde Kara, Anna Bede-Fazekas and Kata Dobó.
The Jókai Theatre will put Serbia in the limelight in January, when it continues its exploration of the theatre cultures of Hungary's neighbours.
