The grant was awarded under a programme the bank supports for the renovation of historical buildings which house cultural institutions. CEB awarded grants worth a combined EUR 78.2 million to 23 cultural institutions in Romania overseen by the Ministry of Education and Religion during the first phase of the programme. During the second phase, which is going on now, the bank has awarded Romania?s National Library about EUR 80 million, Bucharest's National Theatre EUR 27.2 million and the country?s National Operetta Theatre EUR 7 million.
