Bence Bogányi, who comes from a family of musicians, beat four other finalists for the competition?s top prize, which carries a USD 8,000 purse. The finalists were selected by a jury based on recordings of their performances of four selected works and invited to perform during the conference on July 28.
The jury for the performances included Gerald E. Corey (Canada), Sue Heineman (USA), Magnus Nilsson (Sweden), Frank Morelli (USA) and Barrick Stees (USA).
The five-day International Double Reed Society Annual Conference featured concerts, seminars and master courses. It attracted several thousand visitors.
