The Eric Hosking Award encourages and rewards the talents of young photographers between the ages of 18-26, who must submit a portfolio of images that they think represents their very best work.
Among the photographs in Máté?s portfolio is a water-level image of a pelican catching a fish, another of a black-headed gull about to grab a fish dropped by an egret and a great reed warbler swooping down to scoop up a fish.
Máté won the Eric Hosking award for the fourth time this year, establishing a new contest record. The young photographer has submitted 35 photographs to the competition since 2001, wining acknowledgements every year but one.
