Hungary, Austria Sign Cultural-Education Cooperation Agreement

The agreement between the National Resources Ministry and its Austrian counterpart includes policy affecting the sciences, youth and sport.
 
A novel part of the cooperation agreement allows joint applications by Hungary and Austria for European Union funding for research and development to be made available from 2014.
 
The agreement establishes a geothermal energy research project led by the Hungarian State Geological Institute dubbed TRANSENERGY.
 
The EU?s Erasmus, Mundus and Tempus progammes will continue to serve as the basis for cooperation in the area of higher education. Joint financing will continue to come from the Austrian-Hungarian Scientific and Cooperative Action Foundation.
 
Support for Budapest?s Austrian School was reaffirmed in the agreement.
 
Cooperation between the two countries? film and audiovisual industries was also fleshed out in the agreement.
