Hungary Contestant Reaches Eurovision Finals

English

More than 2 million Hungarians watched the semi-finals broadcast on MTV on Thursday evening.

The decision was welcomed by Hungarians and especially by those Hungarians who were born, as Rúzsa was, outside of the country's borders. Rúzsa was born in an ethnic Hungarian enclave in Serbia.

Following the semi-finals in Helsinki on Thursday, the organisers of the contest met to discuss the way the it is organised. They decided that from 2009 the contest will have two semi-finals instead of one, MTV said, citing Svante Stockselius of the European Broadcasting Union, which organises the event. The organisers also agreed that the method use to score contestants must be re-examined.

Rúzsa will have one rehearsal on Friday and another on Saturday before performing live before hundreds of millions of viewers.

"I am very happy that I have come this far. I have spent some unforgettable days in the Finnish capital. It's a good feeling that everybody is helping everybody else as well as they can," Rúzsa told MTV.
