The two officials, meeting on Thursday, stressed the need to expand dialogue between Hungarian and Russian professionals, and convene the next round of the Civic Forum, a grassroots initiative of the two countries, as soon as possible.
Geza Szocs proposed joint cultural events to mark Franz Liszt's bicentenary next year.
Mikhail Shvidkoi suggested that the two countries should organise joint cultural programmes during Hungary's EU presidency in the first half of 2011.
Szocs asked his Russian partner to promote Hungarian researchers' access to the archives of the Russian army and the secret services, and subsidies for the co-production of Russian-Hungarian films.
