Undersecretary at the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage Lajos Vass announced the gift at a press conference on Thursday, in Kosice, which was earlier a part of Hungary.
A series of events to mark the 330th anniversary of Rákóczi?s birth will start on 26 March in Borsa, Slovakia, the city where he was born, and run until October. The statue, to be made by award-winning sculptor Sándor Győrfi will be unveiled in the Rodostó Memorial Museum yard in Kosice on 3 April.
The erection of the statue is a product of several years of negotiations between Hungary and Slovakia, Vass noted.
