Hungary to launch international film festival in 2012

(MTI) - Peter Nemenyi said details would be announced by Geza Szocs, Hungary's cultural state secretary at the Ministry of National Resources, during the Cannes film festival on May 17.
    
According to Screen Daily, the event is scheduled to take place between September 22 and 30 next year and the winner of the best feature film will receive a prize dubbed Golden Chain-bridge that comes with 20,000 euros. The festival will be only open to films with at least one co-producer from a European Union member states, the report shows.
    
Screen Daily reported that there will be ten prizes in addition to the best feature film - directing, actor, actress, cinematography, documentary, short film, Hungarian film, animation, audience award and Best Visegrad Film Prize for a film from a Visegrad country.
   
The festival will initially be government supported but plans to operate independently from public funds within a couple of years of existence, the report said.
