The award was presented to Mazaldan by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Balázs at the Hungarian Embassy in New Delhi. The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Géza Pálmai, Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre Delhi director Imre Lázár.
Mazaldan has translated ten Hungarian books for publication in India, among them works by Kálmán Mikszáth, Dezső Kosztolányi, Margit Kaffka, Sándor Márai, Imre Kertész, György Spiró and Magda Szabó. She recently completed György Dragomán's The White King.
Mazaldan is one of only a few translators in the country to work from the original language, rather than another translation.
