The opening concert's programme includes Mendelssohn's The First Walpurgis Night and the young Hungarian composer Levente Gyogyosi's Istenkep (Deity), to be held at the Budapest Academy of Music, Hollerung said.
The week-long competition will include 25 Hungarian choirs and the pieces performed traditionally feature contemporary Hungarian composers, such as Miklos Csemiczky, Denes Legany, Gyorgy Orban and Janos Vajda. The closing concert of the award-winning choirs will be held at the Palace of Arts on April 8.
