Deputy mayor of Szombathely Gabor Szabo and president of Vas county council Ferenc Kovacs greeted the crowd in an opening ceremony on the city's main square, one of the main organisers Veronika Acsadi told MTI. The congress this year will focus on community and minority rights.
The event will feature the Language and Culture Festival on Thursday, where participant countries will be presented.
The Hungarian event now traditionally boasts a big water-gun fight, with hundreds of youth participating.
