The week-long event, running for the sixth year, welcomes filmmakers aged 35 and below, its press officer Peter Muszatics said.
Duncan Jones, the son of David Bowie, will be among the contestants with a feature film titled "Moon", featuring the voice of Kevin Spacey.
Cinematographer Slawomir Idziak will be presented with a lifetime achievement award at the opening ceremony for his work which includes films by Krzysztof Kieslowski.
