The aim of the project, worth a combined HUF 1.9 billion, is to make the city's parks and public spaces popular meeting places and venues for cultural activities.
Three companies have won seven tenders to complete the various parts of the project. They must complete the work within 220 days.
The project is one of the main elements of Pécs's 2010 European Capital of Culture programme.
