István Csukás is probably the most acclaimed and most popular author of children's books in Hungary. This immensely amusing and adventurous story is one of his best-known works.
It tells the story of a group of children who set up a circus in order to cheer up their friend who has fallen ill. The disappearance of some rare turtles from the local zoo constitutes the other thread of the plot. The children plunge themselves into the investigation with great enthusiasm, and in the end, their efforts are rewarded with surprising results.
The book has also been made into a successful movie.
