The festival will present Israel's contemporary theatre scene in a unique way, festival spokeswoman Krisztina Fodor said.

Audiences will get a chance to see performances that take an exciting approach to confronting current issues. In addition to the performances, there will be readings of contemporary Israeli plays, translation courses for students of Hebrew and meetings with some of Israel's most important theatre personalities.

This year's Contemporary Drama Festival will feature performances by many more foreign companies, in addition to Israeli ones, as well as productions by Hungarian troupes.

Twenty renowned festival organisers, critics and theatre professionals will participate in the festival's Visitors' Programme this year. Professor Hans-Thies Lehmann, who authored an important work on "post-dramatic theatre" will conduct a seminar and offer reviews of Hungarian performances at the festival.
