Satriani burst onto the music scene in 1987 with the album Surfing With The Alien. Since then, he has sold more than 10 million records and been nominated for 14 Grammy Awards.

Satriani started his career as a teacher, instructing such greats as Kirk Hammett of Metallica and Steve Vai.

In 1996, Satriani started a trio, dubbed G3, whose members would change over the years, with each great guitarist being replaced with another guitar hero.

Last year, Satriani formed a supergroup called Chickenfoot with Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony as well as Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Satriani is currently at work on his 11th studio album expected to be released in October.
